Mechanical Sender Installation
WARNING: Before doing any work on any kind of vehicle, disconnect the negative (-) battery cable from the battery. Failure to do so may result in burns, electrical shock, or other personal injuries or damage to vehicle.
NOTE: Do not use any type of Teflon tape or sealer on the threads of the sender. The sender gets ground from the engine block. Any isolation between sender’s threads and the engine block will interfere with proper grounding.
NOTE: For accurate readings the senders tips must be in contact with the constant flow of water.
NOTE: Any wire brought through the firewall should be secured through a rubber grommet.
Temperature Sender
Water, Oil, Transmission Temperature # SENSS6E
1. Connect red wire from gauge to a switched 12v source (12v switched power source means that there are 12v to the red wire when the ignition switch is on and no voltage when the ignition switch is off)
2. Connect black wire from gauge to a good engine block ground
3. Connect purple wire from gauge to the night time dimming circuit. (The purple wire must be connected to the headlight switch circuit so that there are 12v to the purple wire when the headlight switch is on and no voltage when the headlight switch is off)
4. Connect white wire from gauge to white wire from the temperature sending unit provided
Amplifier Temperature #SENSS7E
1. Connect red wire from gauge to a switched 12v source (12v switched power source means that there are 12v to the red wire when the ignition switch is on and no voltage when the ignition switch is off)
2. Connect black wire from gauge to a good engine block ground and to black wire on sending unit provided.
3. Connect purple wire from gauge to the night time dimming circuit (The purple wire must be connected to the headlight switch circuit so that there are 12v to the purple wire when the headlight switch is on and no voltage when the headlight switch is off)
4. Connect the white wire from the gauge to the white wire from the temperature sending unit provided
NOTE: Mount eyelet type sender on bolt or screw closest to source of heat to be monitored
Ambient Air Temperature # SENSS8E
1. Connect red wire from gauge to a switched 12v source (12v switched power source means that there are 12v to the red wire when the ignition switch is on and no voltage when the ignition switch is off)
